I have a bit of a healthy obsession with learning. I grew up in Richland County and attended High School in Noble. I am a proud graduate of Olney Central College, where I now get the pleasure of serving on the Foundation Board. I received my B.S. in Finance from Eastern Illinois University and my M.S. in Personal Financial Planning from CFFP. Along the way, I’ve earned a few other designations. I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional as well as an Enrolled Agent. Outside of my work as an advisor, I have taught courses in business and finance at Vincennes University. In 2022 I graduated from a certificate program in Biblical Financial Studies through Indiana Wesleyan University and Kingdom Advisors. After completing the coursework, I sat for the CKA exam and taught groups aged Kindergarten through adulthood on incorporating their values into their financial lives and how to become good stewards of their finances.
While in college I worked for a couple of banks, but my first position with true financial planning experience was with a firm in Urbana, IL in 2010. I consider myself blessed to have avoided the insurance sales or door knocking gigs so many “advisors” start out with. At Franklin Wealth Advisors, I was able to learn from an expert with several decades of experience and an undeniable passion for the work. At the end of 2014, I left FWA and moved back home to Richland County and joined TrustBank.
From the end of 2014 to Spring 2021, I worked for TrustBank. While there, I provided financial planning services, managed the investment assets for the Trust department, and led the IL wealth management team. I worked with families in all stages of life to develop and implement plans to achieve their goals. At the end of 2020, I decided it was time to move on and begin plans for a new journey – starting my own firm. My goal for Rude Wealth Advisory is to narrow my focus to a smaller group of clients, allowing me to provide a superior level of personalized service
My husband, Bill, and I have been together since 2010 and married since 2013. We are both originally from Richland County, so the decision to move “home” in 2014 was mutual. We have two kids, Olivia & Henry, and are grateful to have both sets of grandparents along with siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. living close by. As a family, we love being active outside and traveling to new places.
Our work plays a critical role in our identities, whether we realize it or not. It brings to light our strengths and weaknesses and provides affirmation of our life’s purpose. We all have unlimited potential to positively impact others, and I consider myself blessed to have found the connection between providing value to others and meaning to myself in such a rewarding field. I’ve always had a passion for numbers and business. When inside the wrapper of helping families reach their goals, this work is even more fulfilling.
